Matthew maintains investment research responsibility for our equities & fixed interest securities. Matthew is also a Portfolio Manager for the Private Wealth Management business.

Matthew has developed a specific criterion to target high quality businesses. This strict investment process demonstrates an absolute approach to assessing the quality of the business and incorporates an absolute approach to measuring the value of the business.

Matthew then manages and adjusts the weightings within the model portfolios to reflect which business are of the highest quality and most undervalued domestically & globally.

Over the years, Matthew has seen the market reward companies that make relatively modest use of physical assets, while penalising those that are more heavily capital intensive. These great companies have products or services that have high consumer demand, repeat business and have withstood competitive pressures over time.

Companies with particular economics can have a sustainable advantage over their competitors because dominant intangible assets are difficult to create or replicate. Physical assets, on the other hand, can be easily replicated leading to excess capacity, price competition, and lower returns on invested capital.

Matthew is employed by Grow Your Wealth Pty Ltd and is remunerated by way of salary and commission.

Matthew is completing the Chartered Financial Analyst Program (CFA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce with double majors in both Finance & Accounting from James Cook University. Matthew is also an Associate Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
